The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) is an independent charity working to improve the art and science of town and country planning. The TCPA puts social justice and the environment at the heart of policy debate and inspires government, industry and campaigners to take a fresh perspective on major issues, including planning policy, housing, regeneration and climate change.
Building on the TCPA’s European project management experience and expertise in climate change adaptation the Association is delighted to be the lead Partner in the GRaBS project.
The planning system has a crucial role to play to prevent further damage to our environment through the provision of sustainable energy, energy efficiency, food security, high quality housing, green spaces and integrated transport, as well as helping us adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change. It is important that local authorities take ownership of their local area climate change targets, developing zero carbon solutions for their communities and helping adapt their local neighbourhoods to harmful climate change impacts such as flood risk, drought and heat waves.
Through the GRaBS project the TCPA aims to raise awareness of climate change adaptation, ensuring that it is integrated into spatial planning throughout Europe.
The TCPA is the Lead Partner of GRaBS project with central management, communication and administrative responsibility. Building on the success of the TCPA-led INTERREG IIIB APaNGO (Advocacy, Partnership and NGOs in Planning) project, the dedicated TCPA Project Delivery Team will be responsible for the financial management of GRaBS, including project reporting.
